Georgian 18th Century Rosewood Square Tea Caddy

Georgian 18th Century Rosewood Square Tea Caddy (England, circa 1790)

£595.00

An attractive and well figured, late 18th century
Square rosewood tea caddy having boxwood
Stringing and key escutcheon with original brass
Hinges to lid and working lock and key

(Tea was a precious commodity in the 18th century and
tea caddies were used to both preserve the tea leaves,
but also to lock it away and protect it from any wandering
hands. This rosewood example is good quality and unusual
being square shaped as opposed to oblong shaped. It also
retains it’s original brass hinges plus working lock and key.)
