History

Approx 30 years ago Sue & Steve Timms set up S & S Timms Antiques Ltd in a small shop on Dunstable Street in Ampthill, Bedfordshire.. Steve had grown up with antiques as both his father and his grandfather were dealers.. ( The latter having a shop on Sydney Street, London in the 1920’s and being a founder member of the BADA) and he had been dealing himself since the age of 14.. Sue also fell in love with antiques when she met Steve and hence after getting married they decided to set up a business… Since then the business has evolved in many different ways always trying to keep up with the lows and highs of the antiques trade.. Two major changes came at the same time when roughly seven years ago their son Robbie Timms left school and chose to join his parents in the family business becoming the 4th generation of the Timms family to join the profession…. Also around this time the company moved up the road to Shefford, Bedfordshire and into a newly refurbished and larger retail premises.. They also started to do many more fairs and exhibitions and took on further space at Woburn Abbey Antique Centre and also at The Swan Antiques Centre.. To this day S & S Timms still exhibit at many Quality Antiques Fairs around the UK which you can find more details about on our Exhibitions page..

However in May 2007 Sue, Steve and Robbie took the difficult decision of closing down the retail premises in Shefford and to concentrate more on dealing from Fairs, Antique Centres, Their Store By Appointment & of course the Website.. It is hoped all 3 of them will be afforded extra time and resources without the shop so as to be able to offer a superior service to all of their clients..

Current

As you can imagine having been established for 30 years S & S Timms have a wide range of knowledge and experience within the world of Antiques which we are always happy to share and pass on to others..

As stated above we are currently available by appointment only, but all our stock is available for both the trade and public to view in either our stores or at one of the antique centres..

Also we are delighted, should our clients wish to visit our stores, to offer a collection service from our local mainline railway station ( FLITWICK ) or to provide customers with directions from Junction 12 of the M1 which is just 5 mins away.. Also we are happy to show clients around some other local antique shops and even to Woburn Abbey Antique Centre up the road from us where of course we have 2 small shops…
