Kneehole desk having seven drawers surrounding central
Cupboard door

(There is often a debate over whether miniature furniture was made
as an apprentice piece, which is where somebody who is looking
for a job in a workshop would create something to showcase
their talents, or whether it was made as a travelling salesman
sample piece, which is where a few articles were made as
scale models in advance of a road trip on which the salesman
would travel the country showing prospective clients
the kind of items they could produce back at the workshop and
take orders from. This particular piece was almost certainly made
as a travelling salesman sample piece due it being very unusual
to find a miniature kneehole desk and the fact it is most unlikely
that an apprentice would be asked, or think, to make one of these
as opposed to making a normal miniature chest of drawers.)
