A very attractive late 18th century rosewood oblong shaped
tea caddy with satinwood strung mouldings, original brass
hinges and working key

(Tea was a precious commodity in the 18th century and
tea caddies were used to both preserve the tea leaves,
but also to lock it away and protect it from any wandering
hands. This particular example is very attractive, constructed
from well figured rosewood and it also comes supplied with
a fully operational key.)
